felting update
Time flies when you are too hot to post!! What a summer it has been here. Hot and dry and now smokey again from the numerous fires around us. Stay safe everyone.
I have posted a very blurry photo today of the green felt little vessels I made with the last piece of felting I made. And also today are more photos of felting that I did a couple or more weeks ago . One vessel and one bracelet. The wool when wet is much darker than when it is dry isn't it? All of these vessels are gifted now and to be used with a tea light , the battery type. I like that idea for myself and it works nicely flickering through the wool.
Thought I would share and hope you are doing fine this summer? Thanks for stopping by!

felting Friday
Well I typed out and downloaded photos only to have them disappear !! Trying again.
Spend a couple of hours this morning wet felting. A friend gave me the dearest little painters tray so I used it , layer of bubble wrap, two layers of wool roving, some "fluffed" linen wool pieces, and a silk hankie. Wet it down with my water and soap, another layer of bubble wrap , my trusty new toy the potato masher. Fun and fast way to go with a small project . After about 15 minutes of mashing I rolled it up in the bubble wrap and took it to my boot tray (love this little guy too) and rolled it for another 20 minutes, then fulled it in the sink for a few minutes. I am so happy with the results. I am going to use this piece to make a couple of little tea light holders (the little plastic ones) although you could make it to fit a glass votive holder and use real tea lights too. This piece of felt will be thin enough for the light to flicker through it. I will post a photo or two when I get them done.

This is my 4x4 quilt swap that I sent to Joanne. I am not sure that I like it myself but she seemed to so that is what is important right? She sent me two beauties in return. Thanks Joanne.

Felted Purse
I was so fortunate to take a class with Fiona Duthie last week. It was a one day class out of the five days she was teaching here in town. What fun it was and what hard work too ; ) . I learned a lot about wet felting and proud of the purse I made . A couple of my friends did the class with me so that was great and it was also nice to meet some new people who have the same love of wool and felting. If Fiona ever comes back I will take another class with her in a heart beat. Google her name to see what a talented artist she is.
Enjoying spring hope you are too.

Easter Post felting
this is supposed to be GREEN needle felted 4 inch square quiltie do not know why it looks grey
What a beautiful weekend it is here. Very warm and sunny . We have had the best winter and now spring that I ever remember.
The first photo is my march quiltie for the swap I am playing in lately. It is very late leaving my house but I am liking it so hope my swap partner does too. I had trouble getting a good photo so hope that she will take a better one when she gets it in the mail.
Last month I went to a nuno felting class at our local quilt shop, we made scarves out of cheese cloth and wool and it was very interesting and fun. messy but so worth it in the end. Mine is the green one in the second photo.
I am taking another felting class this week and so excited about that. I will post photos of that class project when I am finished. It is a purse with lots of new techniques .

4"x4" quiltie swap for Feb
The cover of the magazine Cloth,Paper Scissors for Jan/Feb was so interesting that I had to try doing it as well. It was about fraying the edges of the fabric and hand stitching the quilt block. Being with out a sewing machine right now it was the perfect technique for me to try. I hope it is not too "rustic" for BJ?
Thanks for looking and I wonder what next month's theme will be?

Felted 4"x4" quiltie
Byhand artists group has a swap of a 4x4 inch quiltie that I joined again this month. The theme for this swap is open so..... I used some nuno felted fabric I made years ago for another project and needle felted more roving into it and used a commercially made prefelt as batting with a cotton piece of fabric for its bottom. On the front I used a couple of pieces that I had french knotted years ago but for Joanne I thought they would be perfect in this swap to her. I hope she likes it. On the back of the piece I used some cotton lace to embellish it and Blanket stitched it all together. Lots of work but so much fun too. I wonder if I am up to another swap??
Thanks for looking ! J who is sick and tired of wind and winter
